Gov’t Prepares Emergency Hospital in C. Java for Isolation Center, COVID-19 Treatment

In a bid to anticipate the needs for isolation beds and COVID-19 treatment, the Government has announced it is designating Donohudan hajj dorm in Boyolali regency in Central Java province as an emergency hospital.

“We are preparing the Madinah Building for an isolation center and a COVID-19 treatment facility with 352 beds in total, consisting of 344 treatment beds and eight high care unit (HCU) beds, involving 128 workers,” Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said as quoted from the official website of the Ministry, Thursday (29/7).

The emergency hospital, which will treat patients with mild and moderate symptoms in Greater Solo, including the city of Solo and the neighboring towns of Boyolali, Sragen, and Klaten, is slated to be operated early next month.

“We hope all the preparations can be completed and all medical devices will have been installed on 31 July so the emergency hospital can be fully operational on 2 August,” Basuki said.

The Government has aside a budget of Rp30 billion for the conversion of the hajj dormitory and and the completion progress has already reached 40 percent.

The emergency hospital will have a number of medical facilities, including HCU beds, polyclinics, nurse stations, a screening room, a laboratory, isolation rooms, a staff room, a doctor and nurse room, a logistics room, medical records, an x-ray mobile, a corpse transit, and a food reception area. (PR of Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing) (GWH/EP)
