President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to eradicating corruption and  strengthening the nation’s food self-sufficiency and energy security.

“Our enormous strength and resources must be managed and overseen far more effectively. For this reason, I reiterate that we must combat corruption at every level,” the President said during the inauguration of 218 bridges though video conference from his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java province, Monday (03/09).

The Head of State also noted that the abuse of authority and collusion can inflict financial loses on the state, which in turn will burden the country when confronting challenges such as natural disasters and global crisis.

In addition to underscoring the importance of corruption eradication, the President also emphasized that Indonesia must strengthen its ability to stand on its own feet.

He also expressed confidence that Indonesia has sufficient resources to overcome various crises and emerge even stronger.

“I have reviewed and calculated the figures and data on our national wealth. Every day, we will grow stronger and emerge from this crisis, more prosperous, more productive, and more capable of standing on our own feet than ever before,” he said.

On that occasion, President Prabowo Subianto also reiterated the urgent need to achieve independence in food and energy sectors as the foundation of the national security.

He added that efforts to attain food self-sufficiency particularly in rice production, have long become a priority of his administration.

“Amid wars unfolding in many parts of the world, we must achieve food self-sufficiency in rice, as it is our staple food. We will also soon be able to fully meet our protein needs,” he said adding that his administration has for years prioritized fuel-related policies to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
