Gov’t Provides Assistance for Housing Development in N. Sulawesi
The Government has set aside a budget of Rp13 billion this year for infrastructure, facilities and utilities for 1,816 subsidized housing units in North Sulawesi province.
The assistance for infrastructure, facilities and utilities is part of the Government’s effort to improve the quality of housing, especially for low-income households.
Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said that the assistance is a stimulant to housing construction operators to build houses for low-income households in order to achieve the target of the one million houses program.
“The program is part of the Government’s effort to provide affordable, livable, and quality houses for all communities, especially for low-income households,” Basuki said, quoted by the website of Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Tuesday (23/03).
The distribution of the assistance in North Sulawesi will be implemented in four regencies/cities, including 504 housing units in three locations in North Sulawesi provincial capital of Manado, 80 housing units in Tomohon, 310 housing units in three locations in Minahasa Regency, and 922 housing units in 10 locations in North Minahasa Regency.
The assistance for infrastructure, facilities and utilities is stipulated by Regulation of Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 03/PRT/M/2018 on Amendment to Regulation of Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Number 38/PRT/M/2015 on the Assistance for Public Infrastructure, Facilities and Utilities for Public Housing.
In addition to the construction of neighborhood roads, the assistance for infrastructure, facilities and utilities can also include the provision of clean water networks and integrated waste management for housing developers building low-income housing units.
Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, the disbursement of housing assistance for infrastructure, facilities and utilities for the 2015-2019 fiscal years has always met the target, and has always exceeded the number of targeted housing units. The assistance was provided for 29,956 housing units in 2015, 26,884 housing units in 2016, 17,218 housing units in 2017, 30,406 housing units in 2018, and 15,148 housing units in 2019.
