The Indonesian Government will continue to push for the country’s EV development from upstream to downstream.

“We will continue to push for a large EV ecosystem from upstream to downstream. We will push for its integration with EV battery industry. We will continue to conduct this,” President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo stated after the opening of the 2023 Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) at JIEXPO Convention Center and Theatre, Jakarta, Thursday (02/16).

Regarding the incentive plan for EV, the President said that it is still being calculated by Ministry of Finance, adding that it will be prioritized for two-wheeled vehicles.

“But, of course, we will prioritize the motorbike first. Earlier, I asked about these electric cars and they need to wait in line for a year for some of them. They need to wait in line for two months. They need to wait in line for six months. They are indent [products]. Let alone if incentives are given. However, we are still calculating it,” the President asserted. (FID/TGH/GUN/SM) (FI/HD/MMB)
