President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to expediting productive development projects that create jobs, increase added value, and strengthen the national economy.

The Head of State made the statement while inspecting shrimp harvest and harvest sorting at the area-based shrimp cultivation pond in Kebumen regency, Central Java province, on Saturday (05/23).

“We will execute productive projects that produce proteins for our people and for exports, so we can gain revenues. I suppose in the coming months, we will accelerate productive development processes. We will carry out everything that is productive. Productive means generating added value,” he said.

The President pointed out that he has ordered members of the Red-and-White Cabinet to prioritize projects that can create jobs and boost people’s income, while underscoring that development is deemed successful if the public receives direct economic benefits.

“I told the Cabinet the qualities of programs we should and must support. We must carry out productive projects. What qualifies as productive? It creates jobs for our people. Second, it creates added value, increases Indonesia’s wealth, and boosts the income of our people. That is productive,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also stressed the importance of efficiency and result orientation in national development, adding that the development of physical facilities must be accompanied by real productivity for the people.

“I’m sorry, but for now, we should not build many office buildings. Office buildings are needed, but they should not be built if there is no productivity. Am I right? There are luxurious offices that have no products. I would rather have mediocre office buildings that have good products, that produce many products, that generate a lot of income for people. Our people need jobs,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/AW)
