Gov’t Receives High Demand for Toll Roads Constructions, President Jokowi Says
The Government has been receiving requests to build more toll roads due to its great benefits to the public, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.
“Regional heads, governors, regents, and mayors understand that toll roads can trigger the emergence of new economic growth centers, increase the mobility of people, goods, and logistics. Thus, there are many requests considering the benefits it brings,” President said in a press statement after inspecting People’s Market held at Rampal Sport Field, Malang city, East Java province, Monday (07/24).
The President went on to say that the requests are not only made by people in Java Island but also in all regions. However, he mainly prioritizes the development outside Java Island. Toll roads in this Island can still be built after an investment feasibility study is conducted.
If the internal rate of return (IRR) calculation shows that a project is not feasible, the Government can provide state-capital injections (PMN) to state-owned enterprises or the project can be run by Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing.
“All projects are still under study and being calculated, including the projects in Malang and East Java,” he stated. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/MMB)
