Ministry of Health on Friday (16/07) at the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) in Central Jakarta rolled out COVID-19 booster vaccination for health workers.

“We hope that after senior doctors receive the booster vaccine shot, their students and junior doctors will follow to receive the shot immediately,” Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said after inspecting the vaccination.

For the record, fifty professors at Medicine Faculty of University of Indonesia (FKUI) and several doctors received Moderna vaccine doses during the vaccination.

Moderna’s vaccine uses the mRNA-1273 platform, which contains the gene coding for the protein antigen belonging to a new type of Corona virus.

Professor Aman Pulungan, one of the professors receiving the vaccine, said that he did not feel any negative effect after the vaccine jab, while expressing optimism that the booster vaccination with Moderna vaccine can increase body’s immunity.

He appealed to all health workers to immediately get a third dose of vaccine to boost immunity against the Delta variant of COVID-19.

“Health workers are front-liners. We must be more protected because we directly deal with COVID-19 patients,” Professor Aman said. (PR of Ministry of Health/UN) (RI/EP)
