Gov’t Seeks to Simplify Procedures for Distribution of Direct, Social Cash Assistance
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called for procedure simplification to accelerate the distribution of both direct cash assistance (BLT) and social cash assistance (BST).
“I’ve learned the situation on the ground that many people have not received both BLT Desa and social cash assistance due to extraordinary situations,” the President said in his introduction at a limited meeting on procedure simplification of social cash assistance and village funds direct cash assistance (BLT Desa) through a video conference, Tuesday (19/5).
For this reason, the Government, the President said, is pushing for simplification of the rules and procedures without ignoring accountability aspect.
“The most important thing is how to facilitate the implementation on the ground. Therefore, openness is very much needed,” the President said, adding that as for prevention system, the Government will collaborate with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP), or from the Prosecutor’s Office.
“We have institutions to supervise and control (the implementation) on the ground,” he said, adding that that data on beneficiaries that has not been synchronized must also be immediately resolved.
“We have to involve heads of neighboring unit (RT), community unit (RW), and village heads and establish a mechanism that is more open and transparent,” the President said. (FID/EN)
