The Government continued improving housing programs through renovations, subsidies, and spending on MSMEs’ local products. Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait made the statement after meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Monday (10/26).

In his report, Maruarar explained that the renovation program has made significant progress, reflecting the Government’s effort to expand public access to habitable housing.

“The program was initiated by the state, by President Prabowo. Last year, we renovated 45 thousand houses. This year has jumped to 400 thousand houses,” claimed Maruarar.

In addition to renovations, he explained that the housing subsidy program continues through the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP). The program encourages more people to own homes through an affordable scheme.

On the occasion, Maruarar also reported the progress of the clay roof tile industry by MSMEs in Majalengka regency, West Java province. The program promotes MSMEs to increase production capacity and meet the Indonesian National Standard (SNI).

“There are 34 MSMEs that have passed the durability criterion under SNI. This means they gain certificates and are able to produce as many as 2.4 million units of clay roof tiles with standard quality,” explained Maruarar.

He emphasized that the Government has promoted the use of local products based on local potentials. Strengthening local MSMEs is vital to the national housing program because it links housing development to regional economic growth.

“So, we intend to empower local MSMEs. We hope that West Java products are used in West Java province. Central Java products are used in Central Java province. We will also start in other areas,” he added.

On the occasion, Maruarar also said President Prabowo emphasizes the ASRI program’s progress—an Indonesia that is clean, beautiful, and healthy—and promotes MSMEs. Maruarar said the program is underway to support settlement areas and local businesses’ participation.

“We were asked to continue the program. Mr. President hopes that Indonesia can be clean, beautiful, and healthy and empower MSMEs,” he concluded.

Public houses are renovated, access to own homes is expanded, and MSMEs are empowered. These are housing program initiatives that are not merely about buildings, but about mobilizing the economy.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/AW)
