Amid the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the Government continues to strengthen the social safety net program.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (7/4) during a limited meeting on the Distribution of the Social Safety Net Program through a Video Conference from the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta said the program should meet the target that has been set forth.

The data of the recipients should be also complete, including their names and addresses, the President added.

“Neighboring units (RT) and community units (RW) as well as regional governments and village leaders should also be involved so this program can run as planned,” he said.

The President also pointed out that the implementation of the program should be done immediately and the mechanism for distributing the benefits of this social safety program should also be done as efficiently as possible.

“We have to devise a mechanism that can involve micro and small businesses, staple food vendors, and motorcycle taxi transportation services,” he said, while expressing hope that the program can boost businesses at the grassroots.

“That way, the country’s economy and businesses can grow,” he added. (TGH/EN)
