Gov’t Supports Law Enforcement, Reaffirms Commitment to Anticorruption Efforts

The Government reiterated its commitment to respecting due process in the case involving Vice Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim. Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi emphasized that the Government fully backs law enforcement efforts to eradicate corruption.

“The Government respects the ongoing legal process. In this regard, we also express our appreciation and gratitude to all law enforcement officials, including the Attorney General’s Office, the Police, and the Corruption Eradication Commission, who work tirelessly in the fight against corruption,” the Minister stated at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday (06/04).

The Minister further stated that President Prabowo Subianto has approved the dismissal of Silmy Karim from his position as Vice Minister. He also assured that this decision will not disrupt administrative functions or public services.

“We have coordinated with the Minister of Immigration and Corrections to ensure that this incident does not in any way disrupt the services provided to the public within the purview of the Ministry. I believe that is the case,” he said.

In addition, the Minister said that eradicating corruption is a commitment of President Prabowo’s administration. He further added that the President has consistently called on all government officials to uphold integrity, strengthen good governance, and implement reforms within their respective agencies.

“And on various occasions, he has repeatedly stated that one thing we must all ensure is that we must wage a strong fight against corruption,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/TM)
