Gov’t Supports PLN to Provide Affordable, Reliable Electricity Supply
The business transformation initiated by state electricity company PT PLN is expected to create a more efficient electricity supply cost to provide affordable and reliable electricity, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif has stated.
“The PLN needs to take various measures in order to create an efficient electricity supply cost, so that we can provide reliable, environmentally friendly, and affordable electricity for all Indonesian people.” Arifin said in a written press release, Wednesday (21/10).
One of the measures that can be taken by the PLN, Arifin added, is regulating supply chain management of primary energy and maintaining synergy among stakeholders. “The management of the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) and the System Average Interruption Frequency Index (SAIFI) are important for the PLN to achieve the goal,” he said.
Arifin also applauded the PLN’s measures to implement four principles, namely the green, lean, innovative, and customer-focused principles to achieve sustainable business in industry 4.0.
“I believe that the transformation of the PLN will create a better electricity business and provide more benefits for the people and the nation,” he said.
Arifin went on to say that the PLN must improve its service to achieve customer satisfaction by implementing human-oriented approach.
Arifin further said that the Government is committed to supporting the business transformation process implemented by the PLN, especially in the cost-efficiency.
The Government’s measures to support the PLN include the primary energy policy for coal and gas plants, determining purchase price of electricity from independent power producers, optimizing the energy mix by reducing fuel power plants, controlling fixed costs and fuel costs of electricity supply cost, controlling the efficiency of electricity supply through specific arrangements for fuel consumption in power plants, and managing electric power distribution losses.
