The Government takes extraordinary measures in responding to COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati has said.

“Our fiscal policy is coupled with Bank Indonesia’s monetary policy,” the Minister said during the Inaugural Asian Forum, Monday (14/9).

Sri added that financial sector policies involving the Financial Services Authority also contributed to the recovery program.

The Minister stated that in designing fiscal policy for 2021, Indonesia will not only pay attention to COVID-19 but will also focus on other important issues. The three main areas are health, education and social protection.

“For COVID-19, the Government has allocated Rp 169.7 trillion for the vaccines procurement,” the Minister said, adding that the policy does not only focus on the budget but also on the reforms of the budget use.

Sri went on to say that the next year will be the time for the recovery of the infrastructure development, tourism, food security, and communication technology sectors.

The Minister further said that the Government will remain vigilant and ensure that all policies and instruments that have been designed can be implemented properly to maintain the economic growth in a sustainable manner. (Ministry of Finance/EN)
