Gov’t Targets to Install 280 Thousands Free Electricity Connections in West Java

The Government has set a target to implement free electricity connections program for underprivileged people throughout the country. For West Java Province itself, the target is to install 280 thousand free electricity connections; with 100 thousand connections have been installed.

“The Government will continue to provide free electricity connections for underprivileged people in all provinces, with West Java Province as the main focus because there are still many areas that have not been electrified,” said President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo after reviewing Free Electricity Connection Program at Bekasi Selatan Subdistrict, Bekasi City, Friday (25/1).

“Later, we will move to Central Java, East Java, and other provinces,” said the President.

For Bekasi itself, according to the President, the Government is targeting 14,000 connections.

Accompanying President Jokowi on the event were, among others, First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno, and Managing Director of state-owned electricity company PT PLN Sofyan Basyir. (FID / JAY / ES)
