Gov’t to Boost Vaccination for Elderly, Children

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has highlighted the importance of accelerating COVID-19 vaccination in tackling COVID-19 pandemic, including in tackling the third wave of COVID-19 caused by the new Omicron variant.

“I am pleased with the vaccination drive carried out this morning. It is very important considering the increase in cases. Hence, acceleration of vaccination is needed, especially for the elderly and children,” the President said during the inspection to COVID-19 vaccination drive in 12 provinces online from the Bogor Presidential Palace in West Java, Thursday (02/17).

On that occasion, the Head of State also emphasized two main keys in tackling COVID-19 pandemic including the new Omicron variant including acceleration of the premier doses and booster doses of vaccination and the importance of observing health protocols.

For the record, the vaccination drive carried out in twelve provinces was held in more than five thousand locations.

During the virtual inspection, President Jokowi also took time to have a dialogue with vaccination officers in several locations including Bekasi regency, Majalengka regency, Semarang regency, Semarang city, Aceh province, West Papua province, North Maluku province, East Nusa Tenggara province, and West Kalimantan province.
