The Government has announced it will build 47 apartment towers for official residences for State Civil Apparatus (ASN), the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in the Capital City of Nusantara (IKN).

“It has been decided that at an early stage, the construction of 47 towers would immediately be built this year with a budget allocation of Rp 9.4 trillion,” said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono in a press statement after a Limited Meeting presided over by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on the housing construction of the ASN, the TNI, and Polri in the IKN, Monday (30/01), at the Presidential Office, Jakarta.

The Minister went on to say that the construction of residential housing with an apartment model is corresponding to the concept of a forest city that is being promoted by the IKN. It should be a tower, so that it does not require a lot of lands nor does it damage the forest.

“As expected to be completed in 2024, then the work must begin in June-July this year,” he added.

According to the Minister, President Jokowi has directed his staff to conduct a preliminary survey regarding housing needs in the IKN. That way, ASN is expected to have an alternative whether living in a landed house or an apartment.

Basuki also announced that the number of ASN, TNI and Polri personnel to be transferred to the IKN by 2024 will reach 16.9 thousand people. (FID/UN) (RY/MUR)
