Govt to Conduct Major Reforms on Business Licensing: Chief Economic Minister
The Indonesian Government is preparing steps to simplify business licensing process on a large scale – both at central and regional level – through an integrated online system. Therefore, according to Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, there are many things to be prepared.
“We will issue a Government Regulation (PP) to explain the new design of licensing process,” Darmin said after attending a Limited Cabinet Meeting on Investment Acceleration at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Wednesday (4/18).
Darmin added that according to the PP, the authority of Regional Government or Government Ministry/ Agency in terms of licensing will not be revoked, but will be implemented through a system called Online Single Submission.
The Minister added that the Government will also establish a task force in each Ministry/Agency or Regional Government to monitor and complete licensing process, while the implementation of business licensing will be processed through the Online Single Submission. According to the Minister, the Task Force will monitor the whole process.
The Government will also reform the rules and set the standard for the Ministries and Government Agencies and expects that the business licensing process will take no more than 30 minutes, The Minister said.
The aforementioned PP, according to Darmin, will be issued on 20 May.
Darmin also added that there are currently 15 laws regulating the licensing matter. However, , the law is ‘omnibus law’ which contains many changes but basically contains the same thing, he added. (DID/SM/GUN/RAH/ES) (RI/EP/Naster)
