Gov’t to Consolidate with Various Parties to Counter Terrorism

Terrorism act we are facing today, according to Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, takes a long process. The process includes recruitment, brainwashing, training and indoctrination.

“The end of this process is execution of the act of terror,” Wiranto told the press after attending Limited Cabinet Meeting, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (22/5). Terrorism, according to him, does exist and terrorists live as well as socialize with other people.

Based on the condition, Wiranto called for fighting against terrorism together. “Terrorism is our common enemy. Not only the enemy of the police and TNI, but also the enemy of all Indonesian people,” he said.

The Minister reminds that the victims of terrorism acts are the people, because what the terrorists do is to scare, threat, and even kill people.

On the occasion, Wiranto also stressed the importance of synergy and coordination amongst all components of the nation in order to face acts of terrorism together.

In Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and all other ministries/agencies, Wiranto said, there has been an intention to consolidate, coordinate all forces as well as to synergize the activities in order to neutralize terrorist activities from A to Z. The Minister also expects people’s awareness to face terrorism together.

At this moment, the most important thing to do is to protect the upcoming national such as the Asian Games, simultaneous regional elections, IMF event in Bali, and 2019 legislative and presidential elections.

“All of them are important events that we must protect together. Since it is a process of democracy that belongs to the people, we must protect them,” the Minister said and also added, the details of the operation will be entrusted to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police.
