Gov’t to Disburse Assistance for Micro and Small Enterprises

The Government will disburse productive Presidential Assistance (Banpres) to 9.1 million small and micro entrepreneurs, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“The situation is tough, not only for small business, but also for medium and big business. We have to work even harder so that we can return to normal,” the President said at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/8).

The Assistance, according to the President, aims to provide additional working capital for small entrepreneurs during the pandemic, with each recipient receiving Rp2,400,000.

The President went on to say that during COVID-19 pandemic, the gross revenue of small business sector had decreased by almost half.

The same situation, he added, is being experienced by all countries because the pandemic occurs in 215 countries.

“Indeed, the situation is tough, but I believe that, In Shaa Alloh, God willing, if we work hard we will be able to overcome the challenges,” the President said.

The President further said that he will review the program after two months. (FID/EN)
