The first phase of Aspiring Family Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) that have been disbursed to the recipients in January, must be use effectively, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“The second phase will be disbursed in early April. There is still more than a month left,” President Jokowi said when attending the Distribution of PKH and BPNT Program in 2019, at the Laga Tangkas Sport Hall, Bogor, West Java, on Friday (22/2).

The President reminded the recipients that the money received from PKH should be used for school necessities and for children’s nutritional requirements. The money should not be used to buy cigarettes or the card will be revoked, he added.

The Head of State carried on that they should calculate before using the PKH so there is always enough money for children education and capital to start a business.

If they can manage it well and save more, they can use the money as a capital to open small vendor that sells, for example, gorengan (fritters) or meatball. This PKH Program also aimed to increase people’s prosperity, the President added.

“Please use the money wisely,” President Jokowi said adding the budget allocated for PKH increased from Rp19 trillion last year to Rp34 trillion.

In the meantime, Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum asserted that poverty and unemployment exist at all layers of society. However, the poverty rate declined since the implementation of PKH Program.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in the event were, among others, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Social Affairs Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Deputy Governor of West Java Uu Ruzhanul Ulum, and Regent of Bogor Ade Yasin. (EN/GUN/ES)
