The Government has announced that it will form a special committee to prepare for the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games host bidding and focus on the bidding process until 2023, Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari has said.

The KOI Chairman made the statement after attending a Limited Cabinet Meeting on Indonesia’s Bid Plan to Host the 2032 Olympics Games, Jakarta, Wednesday (4/11).

“In the limited meeting, we have reported the bidding process which will run until 2023. We hope Indonesia can be appointed as the host of the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics Games,” Oktohari said.

According to him, the Government will concentrate on the bidding process in the next few years since it is essential to make Indonesia chosen to host the Olympics. “This will be a competition to win the trust to host the Olympics and Paralympics Games,” he said.

To support the process, he added, the KOI has proposed a multi-year budget for three years. “We will continue to coordinate with relevant stakeholders, especially Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as MInistry of Finance on the budget planning, implementation, and accountability,” he added.

On that occasion, Oktohari also said that the KOI has requested the President to visit the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Switzerland regarding Indonesia’s bid. “The President agreed. This will help the country’s bidding process to host the Olympics and Paralympics,” Oktohari said, adding that the 2032 Olympics will be held more effectively and efficiently in accordance with the new norms set by the IOC.

During the bidding process to be appointed as the host, Indonesia will compete with Australia, Germany, Germany, Korea Unification, Qatar, and India.

Oktohari has also expressed belief that Indonesia has various advantages over the other  competing countries. “the country’s relatively stable weather and temperature as well as security and vast natural and culinary attraction as the main considerations,” he said.

“If Indonesia is chosen, it will mark a new history that for  first time the Olympics is held in the Southeast Asian country. Hopefully, we can receive all the well-deserved trust,” he added.

At the end of his press statement, the KOI Chairman called on support from all Indonesian people so the country can host the 2032 Olympics. “We seek the support of all Indonesian people to fight with us and prove that Indonesia is also capable of hosting the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics,” he concluded.
