President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (05/04) asserted that the Government is currently making massive efforts to evacuate 20 Indonesian human trafficking victims in Myanmar.

According to the President, those 20 Indonesian citizens have been deceived and taken to an unwanted place.

“Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently communicating with [the authority in] Myanmar [to evacuate] our citizens there. They have been deceived and taken to an unwanted place by the traffickers,” President Jokowi told the press at the Sarinah shopping center in Jakarta, Thursday (05/04).

The President further said that Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi is taking various measures to ensure that all 20 Indonesian citizens can return to their respective homes and families in Indonesia.

“So, we are trying to bring and evacuate them out of Myanmar,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AP/MMB)
