“Gov’t to Focus on Human Capital Development in 2020” : President Jokowi
Date 3 Oktober 2019
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reminded Government Officials that the focus of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024 will be on human capital development.
“The Government should continue the education reform that has been developed in the past five years to improve the quality of education,” President Jokowi said at a Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Evaluation of the 2014-2019 RPJMN Implementation and Preparation for the 2019 State Budget (APBN) Implementation at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/10).
President Jokowi also expressed hope that matters related to the entrepreneurship training program carried out by every ministry and institution in Indonesia to be synergized immediately.
On that occasion, the President said that the Government has begun structural reforms, yet there are still rooms for improvement. The Government is expected to run massive structural reforms in the next five years to improve Indonesia’s competitiveness, including simplifying complicated procedures that could potentially hinder our goals.
“We will also continue to reform social protection system and poverty reduction programs, especially for the lowest 40% of the low-income population,” the President added.
According to President Jokowi, the monitoring, controlling, and execution of the Government’s programs have been well-planned and well-executed for the past five years.
“I acknowledged that many programs have gone well. Hence, the reliability and effectiveness of the execution process should be emphasized on the draft of the 2020-2024 RPJMN,” President Jokowi said.
