The National Economic Council has reaffirmed commitment to support the Government’s priority programs, especially in increasing state revenue through tax system reform.

“The digitalization program is important since it will improve tax administration and reduce tax avoidance, as well as increase compliance,” the National Economic Council member Mari Elka Pangestu told the journalist after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (01/07).

The Government, Mari Elka continued, has implemented the policy of tax system digitalization through the coretax administration so the taxpayers can register, report, and pay taxes through online device starting from value added tax (VAT).

“The data also needs to be linked to the digital ID and other profile of the taxpayer to improve the tax collection,” she added.

Mari Elka also stated that the establishment of the Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee has been approved by the President to oversee the implementation of three important elements of digitalization: digital ID, digital payment, and data exchange.

On the same occasion, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms Rini Widyantini stated that the ministries are ready to carry out digital transformation by preparing digital public infrastructure.

“The digital transformation is expected to be a foundation so it can help the council’s recommendation policies,” said Rini. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (GWH/LW)
