President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered related stakeholders to accelerate implementation of the public activity restrictions to overcome COVID-19 pandemic.

“The President’s directive is to implement the micro-based approach at the local level, starting from the village, hamlet, and neighborhood levels, and to involve the task force from the central Government to the smallest task force unit,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said after the Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Wednesday (03/02).

The micro-based approach, Airlangga added, is important to improve community discipline in following health protocols, and law enforcement.

Airlangga also said that the Government will pay attention to the needs of the community through the micro-based policy and will regularly evaluate the policy.

“The Government will pay attention to 98 regions that are currently implementing restrictions on community activities,” he added.

Airlangga went on to say that the restrictions enforced by the Government in all provinces throughout Java and Bali have resulted in improvements in a number of provinces, namely Jakarta, Central Java, and Yogyakarta.

On that occasion, Airlangga reiterated the President’s directives regarding the importance of self-discipline in implementing health protocols to overcome the pandemic.

“The President has reiterated that the key to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic is 3M (wearing face masks, washing hands, and maintaining distance). The President also said that the face masks used by the public should meet the standard,” Airlangga said. (TGH/UN) (RI/LW)
