In a bid to smoothen the traffic flow of the Trans Java toll road on this year’s ‘Eid-al-Fitr  annual exodus—locally known as mudik—, the Government plans to implement one way-traffic during mudik and returning flow.

In a coordination meeting led by Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko as well as Minister of Communication and Informatics Rudiantara, and also attended by officials from related ministries and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) at the Presidential Chief of Staff Office, Friday (26/4), it was decided that the one way-traffic flow will be applied towards the east from 31 May to 2 June and towards the west from 8 to 10 June 2019.

“President Jokowi, from year to year, always reminds us to improve services to the travelers,” Moeldoko said, adding that most of the infrastructure projects will be fully operational.

In the meantime, Deputy I of the Presidential Chief of Staff Darmawan Prasodjo who was assigned by Moeldoko to coordinate and synergize 2019 mudik services said that it is very important to provide a sense of security and comfort as well as the best services to the travelers during this year’s mudik.

Furthermore, in order to control the flow of vehicles on the toll road, Operations Assistant to the Chief of the Indonesian National Police Inspector General Rudy Sufahriadi said that the one way-traffic on the Trans Java toll road will be applied at 07:00 to 24:00 Western Indonesian Time starting from Cikampek towards the east in KM 240/260 and can be expanded according to actual conditions.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of state-owned toll operator Jasa Marga Desi Arryani also said that the plan is a breakthrough to smoothen the flow of vehicles on the toll road. “It will greatly help Jasa Marga to provide smooth and safe road for toll road users,” she added. (Humas KSP/ES)
