Gov’t to Maintain Availability of Staple Food

The Government has taken and continues to take necessary measures rapidly to anticipate the impact of coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to the economy and availability of staple food, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic has massively and significantly affected and slowed down the global economy including the national economy,” President Jokowi during a press conference at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on Sunday.

For that reason, the Government will ensure the availability of staple food to meet people’s demand.

“The Government, as announced by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, has set up some economic policies, including to provide incentives in order to maintain business as usual,” the President added.

Also on that occasion, he called on Regional Heads to support this policies and also to implement necessary measures in their respective regions.

“The Cabinet and I will keep working hard to protect Indonesia from the Covid 19 pandemic and minimize its implication for the Indonesian economy,” the President said adding that one of his ministers was confirmed, yesterday, to have contracted coronavirus. (TGH/EN)
