Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto delivers a press statement on Tuesday (03/31).

The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining national economic stability amidst global uncertainty.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto pointed out that the Government has taken swift action to follow up on President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to maintain national economic resilience in the face of geopolitical pressure.

“The national economic situation remains stable with strong fundamentals. The national fuel oil supply is secure, and fiscal stability is maintained,” he said in a press statement in the South Korean capital of Seoul on Tuesday (03/31), underscoring that Indonesia shows itself as an adaptive and resilient economy.

According to Airlangga, geopolitical pressure, including global supply chain disruption, is not regarded as a hindrance, but rather a momentum to boost transformation toward an efficient and modern working and economic system.

“This situation is not an obstacle but a momentum for us to accelerate a modern and efficient behavorial change,” he said.

Similarly, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stressed that the Government has continued to maintain fiscal health to respond to global economic turmoil, adding that as of the end of the year, the budget would remain under control, with the deficit level maintained.

“We always maintain a sustainable budget, and with that, we still have room to cushion the global economic turmoil. Our current calculations show that even at the end of the year, our budget will remain sustainable and the deficit will remain under control,” he said.

Purbaya underscored that the state budget is managed prudently in a measurable manner, allowing it to remain under control, adding that the public need not worry as the budget deficit would not exceed the limit.

“The media and the public should not worry that the deficit would be out of control or that the budget would be in disarray. We are controlling them well, and we have calculated it until the end of the year,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
