Gov’t to Maintain Price Stability before Ramadan

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has instructed Ministries and Non-Ministerial Government Institutions to maintain price stability of basic commodities before Ramadan.

“Although this is something we do every year, but I need to remind you to check and control availability and prices of basic commodities to avoid price surges,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during the Plenary Cabinet Meeting at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday (23/4).

President Jokowi added that by maintaining availability and price stability of basic commodities, the Government will ensure that Muslim communities in the country can observe Ramadan and Celebrate Eid al-Fitr.

On that occasion, the President also stressed that capital expenditure should be strengthened. “All Ministries must be able to force their organizations to fully absorb budget,” he said.

President Jokowi further said that goods procurement must be reduced as much as possible and instructed Minister of Finance to bring the procurement to its normal position.
