Gov’t to Monitor Regional Budget Realization Every Month

The Government will continue to monitor budget realization every month at the provincial, municipal, and regency levels, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian has said.

“Please make use of the budget immediately to help money in circulation so that the people’s economic resilience will be strong,” Tito said after attending the Limited Cabinet Meeting at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (25/2).

Furthermore, the Minister ordered the village funds to be spent in accordance with laws and regulations. “Currently, the joint team is holding dissemination to all provinces by gathering all the village heads of more than 70,000,” he added.

The joint team that consists of Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance, and Ministry of Villages, the Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration will explain the direct transfer scheme that has been implemented by Minister of Finance, the funds’ usage and monitoring scheme.

“As of 19 February 2020, Ministry of Finance has transferred the funds to the villages of approximately Rp1.3 trillion. The amount is four times more than the same period last year,” the Minister said.

According to Tito, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered to immediately spend the funds. “Minister of Finance has found several regions that keep the funds in banks because they expect deposit interest,” he added. (RSF/EN)
