Gov’t to Monitor Shooting Case of Indonesian Citizen in Malaysia
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the Government continues to monitor the development of the shooting case involving Indonesian citizens in Malaysia.
In his statement on Thursday (01/30) in Jakarta, the President expressed hope that local authorities will thoroughly investigate this issue.
“There will be an investigation,” he said.
He also reminded the public not to engage in illegal activities that may carry high risks and to be more cautious of individuals or groups offering profits through illegal means.
“If you are smuggled into a foreign country, the foreign country will surely take action. So, I urge the people not to be deceived by syndicates who give lofty promises,” he added.
President Prabowo Subianto also expressed belief that the Malaysian Government will conduct a thorough investigation. He also mentioned that this issue was discussed with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his official visit to Kuala Lumpur on Monday (01/27).
“We discussed it in broad terms,” he said.
Regarding the repatriation of affected Indonesian citizens, the President stated that the Government will handle the issue. “The Government will take care of that,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/DNS) (EST/MMB)
