In a bid to ensure the smooth running of general elections, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo underscored the Government’s commitment to overseeing the elections’ stages.

“I have repeatedly said that the Government is committed to the smooth running of the stages of the general elections. The budget has also been well prepared,” the President said in a press statement at the Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School, Bandung regency, West Java province, Monday (03/06).

Regarding the ruling of Central Jakarta District Court on the elections delay, the President stated that the ruling raises pros and cons in the society. “We hope that the stages of the elections can continue and indeed [the ruling] is controversial and raises pros and cons. However, the Government also supports the KPU (General Elections Commission) to appeal,” he said.

Previously on Thursday (03/02), the Central Jakarta District Court has ruled the delay of the general elections based on the follow-up on the Prima Party’s lawsuit against the KPU on December 8, 2022. (TGH/UN) (FI/MUR)
