Govt to Provide Allowance for University Students

The Government will provide allowance for tertiary education students, starting for next year, according to President Joko Jokowi Widodo.
“This program is important for the students to access higher education,” President Jokowi said during the dissemination of Family Hope Program (PKH) and Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) at Bulungan Sports Center, South Jakarta, Wednesday (6/3).
On that occasion, President Jokowi also said that the Government has increased budget for Family Hope Program (PKH) from Rp19 trillion to Rp34 trillion.
“Last year (each recipient of the PKH) got Rp1,890,000. For this year, they will get Rp2.7 million, Rp4 million, or even Rp8 million,” the President said.
The President told the recipients of the PKH to use the fund wisely. “It can be used for school uniforms, school shoes, school bags as well as for nutritious food such as eggs or fish. Please dont use the fund to buy cellular voucher,” President Jokowi said.
He added that the PKH is very important for the future of the children because it provides additional nutrition for children and ensures them to be healthy and smart.
“The Nation needs smart and healthy children to face competition with other countries,” the President said, adding that that the child with good nutrition will be healthy and smart in the future.
