Gov’t to Provide Housing Financing Assistance for 222,876 Units in 2021

Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has announced its aim to provide housing financing assistance for 222,876 units for FY 2021.

“The Government is committed to providing decent housing for low-income people (MBR). We hope that we can improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries by having a more decent, healthier, and more comfortable house,” Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono said as quoted from pu.go.id page, Monday (25/01).

This is in accordance with the target of the 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMN) which aims to increase access to livable houses from 56.75 percent to 70 percent.

Housing financing assistance for FY 2021 consists of four programs, namely the Housing Financing Liquidity Facility (FLPP) which is also provided with Down Payment Subsidy (SBUM), Savings-Based Housing Financing Assistance (BP2BT), and Public Housing Savings (Tapera).

The Government will provide FLPP allocation of 157,500 units worth Rp16.66 trillion, equipped with SBUM worth Rp630 billion, BP2BT allocation of 39,996 units worth Rp1.6 trillion, and Tapera allocation from public funds for 25,380 units worth Rp2.8 trillion.

To achieve this target, the Government is collaborating with 30 implementing banks that have signed cooperation agreements with the Housing Financing Fund Management Center (PPDPP) of the Ministry to distribute FLPP. The implementing banks consist of 9 national banks and 21 Regional Development Banks, both conventional and sharia ones.

In addition, to provide consumer protection to MBR, the Ministry continuously improves supervision of the quality of houses through a rapid assessment of 1,003 housing units in 76 housing projects spread across 11 provinces from November 2019 to January 2020.  (PR of Ministry of PUPR/UN) (FI/LW)
