Gov’t to Provide Housing for State Apparatus, TNI and Police Members

The Indonesian Government will provide housing for 945,000 State Civil Apparatus, 275,000 personnel of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and 360,000 personnel of the Indonesian National Police (Polri), according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“The goal is clear: to make State Civil Apparatus and personnel of the TNI and the Polri more productive at work,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during a Limited Cabinet Meeting on Housing Development for the State Civil Apparatus, members of the TNI and members of the Polri, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/07).

The President also expressed hope that the housing program can provide double effect to boost economic growth generated by various activities in the housing construction.

Regarding land for the housing program, the President asked for reports from related Ministries on the specific type of the housing (vertical housing or landed housing) and on accessibility to the workplace and the integration of the housing with regional economic activities.

President Jokowi also asked his Cabinet whether or not the funding of the housing program can be provided by State Budget, State-Owned Enterprises or the private sectors.

Also present in the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, Chairman of the Financial Service Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, Minister of National Development Planning / Head of the Bappenas Bambang Brodjonegoro, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/ Head of the BPN Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri, Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Village, Underdeveloped Regions and Transmigration  Eko Sandjojo, TNI Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, Head of the Development and Financial Supervisory Board (BPKP) Ardan Adiperdana and other state officials.
