President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo has instructed state-owned agriculture firm PT Perkebunan Nusantara (PTPN) to pay more attention to the welfare of its employees.

The instruction was conveyed by President Jokowi when welcoming the representatives of the Trade Union of the PTPN (FSPBUN) led by its chief Tuhu Bangun, at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (21/2).

Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini Soemarno, who accompanied the President at the meeting, told reporters that President Jokowi invited the representatives of FSPBUN to hear their problems directly, during which the President listened to complaints from the PTPN workers about their welfare.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also suggested PTPN to provide lands for its workers who have served for 10 years and above so that they could have a settled life and a permanent residence, she said.

Furthermore, the President also called on all the PTPN workers to safeguard and develop PTPN assets. “So that the PTPN can provide welfare for its workers and the surrounding community as well as for the country,” Rini said. (BPMI Setpres/ES)
