Gov’t to Recruit New Civil Servants in October

The National Civil Service Agency (BKN) has announced that this year the Government is going to recruit 197,111 new civil servants, consisting of 37,854 positions for ministries/ central government institutions and, 159,257 positions for regional governments.

“However, the figures are subject to change,” Head of Public Relations Division of the BKN Muhammad Ridwan stated in his press release, Tuesday (1/10).

According to Ridwan, the job vacancy positions must be in accordance with the new cabinet scheme of the second administration of President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo. He further added that there are several processes in the recruitment of CPNS with a specified period of time and may not be shortened.

“The process includes the announcement period for 15 calendar days, submission of online application requirements for ten calendar days and so on, in accordance with Government Regulation Number 11 of 2017 on Civil Servant Management,” Ridwan said.

He went on to say that it is possible that the recruitment budget in a number of central and regional agencies has been allocated to more important programs thus the selection process should not be forced to be completed this year because it will affect the budgeting.

The BKN, Ridwan continued, also required the 541 central and regional agencies that will recruit new civil servants to conduct trial of the new online system.

“In order to avoid input errors which consequences are fatal for the participants as happened during last year recruitment,” he said, adding that recruitment at the end of December is predicted will not be optimal since several regions in Eastern Indonesia (Papua, West Papua, Maluku Islands, and East Nusa Tenggara) will have longer holiday to celebrate Christmas.

In addition, Ridwan expects the public not to trust circulated information on the recruitment other than that sourced from the official BKN and central/regional agencies sites.

“Recruitment of CPNS is carried out transparently and accountably only through https://sscasn.bkn.go.id,” he concluded. (Humas BKN/ES)
