Gov’t to Revise JHT Regulation

Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah assured workers that the Ministry will revise implementing regulations for the old-age benefits (JHT) program.

Currently, the implementation of the JHT program is regulated through Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 2 of 2022 on Procedures and Requirements for JHT Disbursement.

“Earlier, I and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs met the President. In response to our report, the President gave directives to simplify the JHT regulation,” the Minister said in a written statement, Monday (02/21).

Ida explained that after the dissemination of Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 2 of 2022, the Government understood the objections raised by the workers. Therefore, the President gave his directives to simplify the regulation. This is expected to help affected workers/laborers, especially those who have been laid off during the pandemic, to get their JHT funds.

“Mr. President is very concerned about the workers/laborers and orders all of us to mitigate and help fellow workers/laborers who are affected by this pandemic,” she said.

The Minister also added that the President also expressed hope that a simpler JHT claim procedure can support the creation of a conducive employment climate.

“Mr. President also appealed to all of us, the Government, entrepreneurs, and fellow workers/laborers to jointly create a conducive employment climate to encourage national competitiveness,” she said. (PR of Ministry of Manpower/UN) (FI/MMB)
