Gov’t Urges Media to Report Positive News

Head of Covid-19 Handling Task Force Doni Monardo has called on national media to report only positive and reliable news to the public.

“Do not report news that are not yet valid. Why? Because it may cause stress and panic, which then leads to the people’s weakening immune system,” Doni said Monday (30/3).

Thus, media as the Government’s partner should only carry positive news, he added.

Doni also pointed out that collaboration between the Government, mass media, and all elements of the society is needed to address the covid-19 challenge.

“Media can also serve as heroes of the humanity if they help the Government reporting news that are positive and encouraging for the public,” Doni said. (TGH/FID/EN)
