The Government spokesperson for matters related to coronavirus Achmad Yurianto has urged the public to remain calm amidst coronavirus cases in Indonesia.

“Clinically speaking, the disease is not like what we imagine in Wuhan. We have received reports from the hospitals, saying that all of the coronavirus patients can perform independent treatment related to their needs,” Yurianto said in Jakarta, Monday (9/3).

According to Yurianto, there are currently no patients using oxygen tubing and IV infusion, adding that the clinical symptoms found in group patients without preexisting medical conditions are all good.

“They appear as patients with mild illness. However, there are one or two patients who use health equipment since they have preexisting medical conditions,” he said.

Starting Monday (9/3), the Government has re-evaluating those patients based on the last laboratory results received on Monday afternoon. The re-evaluations are the follow-ups of the examinations conducted a few days ago using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction).

“We confirm it (the re-evaluation) by using Genome Sequencing examination and from today’s result, some people have tested positive for coronavirus,” he added. (TGH/EN)
