Gov’t Uses Government Training Center Buildings as Centralized Isolation Facilities

Education and training center buildings owned by government agencies can now be used as centralized isolation facilities for State Civil Apparatus infected with COVID-19, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Tjahjo Kumolo has announced.

“All government agencies that own and manage education and training centers/institution buildings shall immediately prepare and allocate the buildings for centralized isolation facilities,” Tjahjo said in Circular Number 04 of 2022 on the Utilization of Government Agencies’ Education and Training Center Buildings as Centralized Isolation Facilities for COVID-19 Patients.

The utilization of these buildings, he added, is one of the measures to stop the COVID-19 spread, especially amid the rising Omicron variant.

Tjahjo also underscored that to transform the buildings into isolation facilities, the government agencies must implement standard procedures set by Minister of Health for COVID-19 patient isolation and must coordinate with local hospitals, community health centers, and local governments.

The Circular also stated that government agencies which does not have such buildings shall coordinate and cooperate with government agencies that own the facilities and/or other related parties to ensure that State Civil Apparatus infected with COVID-19 in their respective agencies can receive the necessary isolation and treatments.

During the utilization, education and training programs by government agencies shall temporarily be held online and / or be held in offices or other locations implementing strict health protocols.

In the meantime, to control the spread of COVID-19 within government agencies, Tjahjo also ordered all agency leaders to optimize the role of the COVID-19 Crisis Center Team in their respective agencies, adding that the team in each agency is advised to carry out inspections and trace close contacts of infected patients.

The Minister also said that all team members must also ensure that State Civil Apparatus and their families infected with COVID-19 receive the necessary isolation and treatments, adding that every State Civil Apparatus is ensured to receive a full-dose vaccination, including a booster shot according to the schedule determined by Ministry of Health.

For the record, the Circular is issued as a reference for ministries, institutions, and regional governments to prepare and allocate special health facilities in the form of centralized isolation facilities.

The aim is to ensure the prevention and control of COVID-19 spread for State Civil Apparatus and the wider community, as well as to provide health protection for infected State Civil Apparatus and their families through the facilities.
