Head of National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) Djoko Setiadi guarantees that the institution he led, which is a revitalization of National Encryption Agency (Lemsaneg), shall not take any party’s side ahead of the Political Year that starts this year.

“We are neutral. Our objective is to help the Government to protect the cyberspace,” Djoko tells the journalists after inaugurated by President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo as the Head of BSSN, at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (3/1) morning.<>

The focus of this institution’s work in this political year, according to Djoko, is to maintaining tranquility and security in cyberspace so the fiesta of democracy runs smoothly  to produce the best leaders. Therefore, the Head of BSSN reminds all parties that often spread hoax news to stop their actions.

The BSSN will cooperate with existing cyberbodies in other institutions, such as the Indonesian National Police (Polri) and National Intelligence Agency (BIN). Hopefully, this synergy will make this institution stronger.

Regarding terrorism, Djoko explains that his office will cooperate with Polri. The BSSN has also prepared facilities as well as technology to prevent and fight cyberattacks that happened a few times in 2017. He also hopes that BSSN can have the authority to take action, to arrest, and to impose sanctions.

Previously, Djoko Setiadi explains that the BSSN is a revitalization of National Encryption Agency. It bears bigger responsibilities because the President has assigned this institution to protect all Indonesian citizens, not only government institutions, State-Owned Enterprises, or private companies.  (GUN/RAH/ES) (MMB/YM/Naster)
