Health Protocols Strictly Implemented during Governor Inauguration: Presidential Secretariat

Strict health protocols have been implemented during the inauguration ceremony of Riau Islands Governor, Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono has said.

The statement was made in response to the news circulating in the media that the Riau Islands Governor Isdianto has tested positive for COVID-19.

In the statement delivered to the Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat, Saturday (1/8), Heru explained that a swab test has been conducted for the Governor, his family members, and relevant officials prior to the inauguration.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Presidential Secretariat also minimized direct contact between President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the Governor.

“Mr. President did not directly hand over the Presidential Decree. The Decree is put on a table near the Governor of the Riau Islands, and the Governor took the file by himself. We have strictly implemented the health protocols,” Heru said.

Heru further said that the obligation for wearing face mask and keeping a safe distance is strictly implemented in the Presidential Palace, especially during the inauguration ceremony.

“During the inauguration, we did not invite many officials. The inauguration was only attended by several family members and officials,” he said. (BPMI/EN)
