In the series of commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day, Saturday (08/31) a solemn parade procession of the Red and White Flag and the proclamation text was carried out with great enthusiasm and pride from the State Palace in the new capital of Nusantara (IKN) to the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta.

The procession, led by Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono, began with the handover of the Red and White Flag and the proclamation text in the Flag Room at the IKN State Palace.

The handover was conducted by the Alumni of the National Flag Hoisting Team (Purna Paskibraka) as ambassadors of state ideology Pancasila, who proudly assumed this important role in the procession. Kachina Ozora from Central Kalimantan province received the Red and White Flag, while Sabrina Roihanah Syukriyyah Thallah from Jakarta province carried the proclamation text.

Afterwards, the two members of Purna Paskibraka team rode in the tactical vehicle ‘Maung.’ The Red and White Flag and the proclamation text were then paraded from the IKN State Palace to Balikpapan City.

After a two-hour journey by land, the procession carrying the national symbols reached Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Balikpapan city, East Kalimantan province.

They were welcomed with a guard of honor and cultural performances. The heirloom flag and proclamation text were then flown to Jakarta, continuing their symbolic journey to Monas.

Upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at around 3:05 PM Western Indonesia Time, the Purna Paskibraka team members Naila Aulita Alqurba Sinapoy and Kirana Ashawidya Baskara were responsible for carrying the Red and White Flag and the proclamation text, respectively.

They both descended the plane’s stairs and were greeted by the members of the Presidential Security Detail (Paspampres) guard of honor and Purna Paskibraka team from Jakarta province to board the ‘Maung’ tactical vehicle.

The Red and White Flag and the proclamation text were then paraded to Monas in Jakarta. Along the route to Monas, the procession was met with enthusiasm from the public and students who waved the Red and White flag in celebration of this symbol of national pride.

The procession route in Jakarta included several key points starting from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Semanggi, the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, Thamrin street, and the Horse Statue (Patung Kuda), before reaching its final destination at Monas.

For the record, the procession represents more than just a physical journey since it is also a spiritual voyage that deepens the sense of unity and patriotism. It reaffirms a commitment to the values of independence and national unity, as well as brings together diverse elements from across Indonesia in this historic moment.
