Held in Jakarta on 20 April; 650 Participants Signed Up to Participate World Economic Forum

A total of 650 participants from 35 countries have submitted for confirmation to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF), which will be held in Jakarta, on next Monday (20/4).

“So far, the participation is very high. Up to this day have already signed up 650 participants from 35 countries who will come at the World Economic Forum,” said Coordinating Minister for Economy Sofyan Djalil after accompanying President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the Chairman of the World Economic Forum Dr. Philipp Rosler  in the President office, Jakarta, Monday (30/3).

According to the Coordinating Minister for Economy, so far at the domestic level preparation related to the implementation of the World Economic Forum, runs well. Hopefully, when the World Economic Forum takes place, Indonesia could explain the position of Indonesia, investment in Indonesia, Indonesia’s reform issues, and future prospects of the Indonesian economy.

When asked if the organization of the World Economic Forum in Jakarta to be one way the government gets investors, Coordinating Minister for Economic Sofyan Djalil assured that the implementation of the WEF is an initiative of private parties.

“The World Economic Forum is one of the organizations that actively address issues of the world economy. Once a year they regularly hold meetings in Davos, Switzerland. There are also in Asia, which this time will be held in Jakarta. Then they will also be held in the Middle East that is Jordan, also to be held in South Africa as well as in Latin America, “said Sofyan.

However, Coordinating Minister for Economic admits that the implementation of the most WEF participants, that was hold in Davos, Switzerland, last year, which was attended by 3,000 people.

About 650 participants who have signed up to the WEF in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for Economic Sofyan Djalil assess that it shows a desire or interest of investors, entrepreneurs, professionals to come to Indonesia to look closely at how progress in an effort to increase investment.

“The important thing is they come and see, because seeing is believing, the people will believe after seeing,” said Sofyan as he mentioned, this is done so that they believe that the reforms implemented by the government and various infrastructure programs, that are offered by the government has been running well , and hopefully they will come to invest.
