Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Mohamad Nasir has given his response regarding the demonstration and riot happened in Manokwari, Papua, last Sunday (19/8).

“We must safeguard the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI),” the Minister told the reporters in Jakarta.

He also called on the students of Papua University (Unipa) in Manokwari to return to the campus, continue their study and avoid demonstration which can block access to the campus.

Nasir further said that the demonstration will disrupt learning process. “Do not let education be disrupted by the demonstration, everything must run well, so that Indonesian people could be smarter and could use natural resources in a better way,” the Minister concluded. (FID/RAH/ES)
