Higher Education Minister Urges Universities to Improve Quality

Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Mohamad Nasir has called on universities in Indonesia to improve their quality.

“I encourage all universities, both state universities and private universities, to improve their quality to face the Industrial Revolution 4.0.,” Nasir said during the 70th Anniversary of National University at Jakarta Convention Center, Sunday (22/9).

He added that since the beginning of his tenure as Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, the number of universities in Indonesia that have achieved grade “A” in accreditation process has increased.

For the record, there were 96 universities that have obtained grade “A” in accreditation process conducted by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN PT), 13 of which were private universities in Jakarta.

Nasir further said that universities are expected to be the driving force for innovation in developing the country, adding that the quality of human resources as well as science and technology will become invaluable assets in the face of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
