Hilal Not Be Seen, Government Assign the Beginning of Ramadhan Fell on Thursday

Minister of Religious Affairs, accompanied by KH Din Syamsudin and KH Makruf Amin present the results of ithbat session, in MORA, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6).

After receiving a report from 36 monitoring points that none of them saw the Hilal (the moon), Ithbat Session (determination) conducted by the Ministry of Religion Affairs on Tuesday (16/6) night decided that the beginning of Ramadhan (1 Ramadhan) fell on Thursday, June 18, 2015.

Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin explained, in ithbat session was delivered reports from a number of implementers rukyat assigned by the Ministry of Religion Affairs, no less from 36 people spread from the west to the east, all the provinces are represented and no one else saw the moon (Hilal).

“Based on the premise that since this time the new moon (hilal) could not be seen, the moon is not appearing then all participants ithbat session agreed that the month of Shaban can be provided to 30 days. Thus, the first Ramadan will fall on Thursday, June 18, 2015,” said Minister of Religious Affairs during a press conference after chairing a session Ithbat Beginning of Ramadan at the Office of Ministry Religious Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday (16/6) night.

Minister of Religious Affairs who accompanied by the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), KH. Din Syamsudin, Chairman of MUI, KH Makruf Amin, and the Director General of Islamic Mass Guidance, Machasin hope, with the results of this ithbat session hopefully all Muslims in Indonesia in entering the month of Ramadan, began the fasting month of Ramadan could be carried out simultaneously together.

Minister of Religious Affairs also hopes, hopefully the ithbat session decision that assign the beginning of Ramadan fell on Thursday (18/6), the same as the predetermined PP. Muhammadiyah, as well as a reflection that the unity of Muslims in Indonesia could constructed continuesly from time to time, so that the problems could addressed with wise and solved jointly.

On that occasion the Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin also expressed the gratitude that the majority of Indonesian Muslims could together enter of Ramadan. Minister of Religious Affairs admitted that the decision took place as well as the circumstance of the new moon (hilal) which is the science of hisab is under the horizon.

“Hopefully this is a blessing from Allah Almighty, which is positioning of hilal in such a way, so that Indonesian Muslims could entering of Ramadan together,” Minister of Religous Affairs said. (WID/ES)
