HKBP Appreciates President Jokowi’s Leadership

The Ephorus (head of congregation) of Batak Protestant Church (HKBP) appreciated President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo who tries so hard to create a conducive climate for this country so it can carry out its development for a better future. In addition, the President also nurtures all people of Indonesia despite their ethnicities and religions.

“We have extended our appreciation over the leadership of the President and we are so grateful for the efforts to create a conducive climate so this country canmove forward to a better future,” the Ephorus of HKBP Darwin Lumban Tobing said, after received by President Jokowi, at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (27/3) morning.

On the meeting with the President, Darwin added, he delivered several things. First, appreciation to the role of the President in nurturing all people of Indonesia despite their ethnicities and religions; second, education and empowerment programs of HKBP in 2017. “We told the President that HKBP has an agenda to develop education sector and human resources empowerment so these sectors will have a better quality and be more advanced,” Darwin said.

Darwin admitted that HKBP cannot work alone. Therefore, he asked the President to give material supports as well as encouraging words so HKBP is able to materialize their goals.

“HKBP will always communicate with central government so the assisstance can be concretely realized,” Darwin said.

The President expected, Darwin added, HKBP to actively take part in the efforts to make this country more advanced.

On that occasion, Darwin also invited President Jokowi to attend Easter Celebration in Tarutung on next April.“We invited the President to visit the office of HKBP. This visit will portray our support to the Government as well as the Government’s attention to the church and the people,” Darwin said. HKBP hopes the church and the President would have a good communication and relations in various things, including in the efforts to develop the country.

On that meeting, President Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.  (DNA/RAH/ES)(MMB/YM/Naster)
