The Government has provided an online technology to support civil registration during COVID-19 outbreak, according to Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has launched an Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the form of a chatbot called “Gisa” (Gerakan Indonesia Sadar Adminduk/People Awareness for Civil Registration) to support the physical distancing during the outbreak. The application is in line with President Joko Widodo’s instruction for physical distancing.

Tito said that the chatbot provides updated information on civil registration which is more accurate than web-based information.

“With the Gisa, people can ask questions as if they are in a conversation with an officer. The Gisa will always provide accurate information sourced from the Civil Registration Authority,” the Minister said, adding that the Gisa will help the people and simplify procedures in civil registration.

In the meantime, Director General for Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs Zudan Arif Fakrulloh explained that Chatbot Gisa is the result of cooperation between the Directorate General of Civil Registration and the Indonesian Civil Servant Corp (KORPRI). The Gisa is available in AKUI android application in Google Play Store.

The Gisa provides quick and accurate information related to Civil Registration services, including procedures for the identity card (KTP) and family card (KK), requirements for marriage registration, birth certificates, information on service fee and other other information.

Every Civil Registration Office will improve public services in their respective area by providing specific information such as the location of the office, contact number of officers, information on time to completion, and receiving input from the public.

Zudan further said that the Gisa will support the services of the Directorate General of Civil Registration at national and regional levels without any direct contact between service provider and service recipient. (PR of Ministry of Home Affairs/EN).
